Quarterly Maturity Review

Annual reviews capture too little, too late — by the time the year-end report lands, the strategic course-corrections it might have triggered are already six months overdue. The Quarterly Progress Tracker enforces the institutional cadence that catches drift early: each quarter the eight-pillar maturity scores get re-measured against the Gap Analysis baseline, gap-closure velocity tracked, ROAI attribution updated, and emerging risks surfaced before they become incidents. Executive Summary

The Quarterly Progress Tracker is the primary measurement instrument for Legal AI Maturity Mapping (Pillar 7). It gives General Counsel and Legal Operations a disciplined quarterly cadence to track AI transformation progress, ROAI realisation, and compliance status across all eight blueprint pillars. Each cycle begins with a Metric 0 pre-check that confirms AI BoM currency, GOV-02 policy review, STR-07 Task Force engagement, MAT-03 gap inputs, and MAT-02 baseline calibration before any scoring proceeds. The module structures a 10-section tracker: pillar-by-pillar scorecard, Risk Taxonomy 2026 Class Exposure Dashboard, Agentic Tier Deployment Monitor, compliance monitoring, ROAI performance, risk and issue tracking, achievements and learnings, next-quarter action plan, stakeholder communication, and certification and approvals. Class 6 Shadow AI exposure at a score of 40 or higher triggers immediate escalation to the AI Task Force and mandatory GOV-03 logging. All completed trackers are treated as DPS Defensibility lens evidence, with 3–7 year retention rules for dashboards, escalations, approvals, and stakeholder communications.

Defensibility Evidence Produced

Completed quarterly trackers are primary DPS Defensibility lens evidence. Agentic Tier Deployment Monitor records and Class 6 Shadow AI escalation logs are retained for 7 years. Compliance monitoring dashboards and certification signatures are retained for 5 years. All records support responses to regulatory audits, bar association inquiries, and client disputes regarding AI governance practices.

Overview

The MAT-04 Quarterly Progress Tracker is the operational heartbeat of Pillar 7 — Legal AI Maturity Mapping. It converts strategy, governance, and transformation plans into a repeatable quarterly measurement cycle that produces DPS-grade evidence.

Use this module to:

  • Confirm Metric 0 readiness before each quarterly review.
  • Score all eight blueprint pillars on a 0–100 scale with narrative insights.
  • Monitor Risk Taxonomy 2026 exposure and trigger Class 6 Shadow AI escalations.
  • Govern Level 4 Agentic Tier deployments via a five-provision control set.
  • Track ROAI, compliance, and risk in a single quarterly artefact.
  • Capture approvals and retention metadata for defensibility.

Metric 0 Pre-Check

Complete all five gates before starting the quarterly tracker. If any gate fails, pause and remediate.

  1. M0.1 — AI BoM currency
    • Confirm AI Bill of Materials entries exist and are current for all AI tools in scope.
    • Cross-check with vendor assessments (VEN-04) and data processing agreements (DAT-03).
  2. M0.2 — GOV-02 currency
    • Verify the AI Use Policy (GOV-02) has been reviewed within the last 12 months.
    • Note any pending updates that may affect this quarter’s assessment.
  3. M0.3 — STR-07 engagement
    • Confirm the AI Task Force has been briefed and the quarterly assessment is on its agenda.
    • Schedule review and approval checkpoints.
  4. M0.4 — MAT-03 inputs
    • Ensure current-quarter gap scores from MAT-03 are complete and accessible.
    • Map key gaps to pillars and risk classes.
  5. M0.5 — MAT-02 baseline
    • Reconfirm MAT-02 baseline scores as the calibration reference for this quarter’s targets.
    • Document any structural changes that affect comparability.

Record pass/fail for each gate and remediation actions where required.

Section 1: Pillar-by-Pillar Progress Assessment

Create an eight-row scorecard, one for each blueprint pillar. For each pillar, capture:

  • Current quarter score (0–100)
  • Previous quarter score
  • Quarterly achievements
  • Critical gaps identified

Where this Module lives

The Quarterly Progress Tracker is the standing cadence instrument of the measurement layer. It consumes the Gap Analysis (MAT-03) baseline scores and the Adoption Metrics Dashboard (ADM-01) attribution data, then feeds the AI Strategy Canvas (STR-02) with the quarterly recalibration inputs and triggers the Peer Benchmarking Dashboard (MAT-05) annual external comparison. The Module produces DE-2 (Methodology transparency) and DE-4 (Governance posture) records into the DPS.

When this Module sits inside a Programme.

Modules are operated in-house by GC and Legal Operations teams. When the capability transformation is multi-Pillar — or when the regulator timeline tightens — Advanta operates the canonical Module sequence as a Programme.
